Energy Ministry official says public debate to take place on green hydrogen related strategies

Romania has certain targets to be met in decarbonising the energy sector in Romania, and this decarbonisation process began before the onset of the current energy crisis, secretary of state with the Ministry of Energy Dan-Dragos Dragan said at a specialist conference on Thursday.

He pointed out that, as far as green hydrogen is concerned, Romania has strategies put up for public debate over the next few weeks.

"In the National Recovery and Resilience Plan we have certain targets to meet that go in the direction of decarbonising the energy sector in Romania. We started this decarbonisation journey before the onset of this energy crisis and we are keeping our promises. We have started to offer more incentives and tools to market participants to increase their capacities and facilities in the energy sector. Also, as part of the strategy, we are trying to introduce in all related technologies - and here we are talking about nuclear technology, in which we have extensive expertise - and we want to develop Units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant," mentioned Dan-Dragos Dragan, at "The Third Annual Business and Investment Roundtable in Romania. Exploring new frontiers for agility and resilience" conference.

The Secretary of State said that Romania will be among the first countries in Europe "to introduce those small reactors."
